A portrait, a place, a creature, an idea — if it can be drawn in line and tone, it can be drawn in fire. Every commission is burned freehand on a unique live-edge slab, so no two pieces can ever be alike. It starts with a conversation, and there is no obligation to proceed.
Enquire
Tell EA what you have in mind using the form — the subject, roughly how large, and any timing that matters. She replies personally with thoughts on whether fire and wood will do the idea justice.
Design
Together you settle the composition and the slab — its species, form and grain chosen to work with the subject. You approve the direction and the quote before any wood is burned.
Burn
The piece is drawn in graphite, then burned freehand, line by line and pass by pass. Pyrography allows no eraser — the timeline respects that, and you’ll see progress along the way.
Deliver
The finished piece is photographed, carefully packed and delivered — signed by EA and accompanied by care guidance.
What subjects work best?
Anything that lives in line and tone: portraits of people and animals, botanical and marine studies, places, and bespoke ideas. Share yours — EA will tell you honestly whether it suits the medium.
How does pricing work?
Each piece is quoted individually after the first conversation — size, slab and the density of detail drive the price. You’ll have a clear quote and timeline before anything begins.
What wood is used?
Live-edge, untreated slabs — chosen per piece so the grain, knots and natural edge become part of the composition. No paint or pigment is ever used; every tone is burned.
How do I care for a piece?
Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from damp, and dust with a dry, soft cloth. Detailed care guidance comes with every piece.
